OPI: DS Desire

Oh DS Desire, the major lemming that kept getting away from me.  I've wanted this beauty for a LONG time.  I cannot believe I finally have it.  Let me just say, it is incredibly gorgeous and crazy holo!  I love it so much, it may have actually taken the honor of my favorite polish ever.

Here are 2 coats of warm golden perfection.  Pictures were taken in artificial light and topped with Poshe.

I just fainted....

Ozotic: 513 (on the bestie's nails)

I got to see my bestie today, she wanted me to paint her nails with a holo polish.  She picked Ozotic "513".  This was the first time I used this holo and it is gorgeous!

Pictures were taken in sunlight, 2 coats topped with Poshe.

This is without clean up, did I do okay?

My Valentine's Day Nails

Wouldn't be very nice of me not to do Valentine's nails right?!

*Side note*  I am loving my dotting tools!!

For this manicure I used: OPI "Dim Sum Plum", Color Club "Worth the Risque" and Cosmetic Arts "Platinum Record" (at least that's what I'm thinking it should be.)

I topped it off Gelous (ring fingers only) and then a coat of Poshe.

Dive Right In (A franken by me)

Struck with boredom one day, I decided to go through my box of back ups, top coats, and base coats.  I found a 1/3 of a bottle of OPI DS Sapphire.  I totally forgot I had some left.  I had bought a bottle of ebay (since you can still get it for a good price) to franken something close to my biggest lemming EVER!  In case you missed that franken, check out "Seasons Change" here.

"Dive Right In" is definitely my second favorite franken I've made.  "Seasons Change" is number 1.

I had a hard time capturing how holo this polish is.  It is actually pretty holo, the most holo franken I've mixed up yet!

Recipe:
1/3 a bottle of OPI DS Sapphire
9 big drops (or mini pours)....just enough to darker the blue
To fill the rest of the bottle I added top coat

The results:
A blue jelly holographic.  This was 3 coats.  Makes you want to "dive right in" huh? :)

The Pink Phink

This manicure was inspired by The Pink Panther and the very first (and famous) episode, The Pink Phink.  I LOVE The Pink Panther (cartoon series!)  I have the collector's set on dvd, slippers, and a stuffed animal....yup...I'm such an adult LOL!

The products used will be listed at the end of the pictures.  I had to do some color editing (my camera does not like pinks) and this is the best I could do.  The darker pink is not the exact color I wanted, but Color Club's "Yum Gum" was a streaky nightmare.

Milani "Attic", Orly "Lemonade", OPI "Strawberry Margarita", OPI "Sparrow Me The Drama", and Butter London "All Hail The Queen"
I am SO happy I decided to buy a set of dotting tools!  I topped everything off with Poshe topcoat.

Behind the Polish: D'Anna from Not Another Nail Blog

Please welcome D'Anna!  Have you check out her blog?  If not, please do!  It is awesome!!

Behind the Polish: D'Anna from Not Another Nail Blog

Polish...

1. When did your love of polish start?
I can remember my mom painting my fingers and toes as a child, she had a little black caboodles case that held all her polishes and I used to spend so much time just rolling the bottles around in my hands watching the polish like it was magic.

2. Do you remember your first nail polish?
I seem to remember Sally Hansen Chrome polish being one of the first sets I bought. I think they have since been discontinued but they were amazeballs when I got them. The purple one was my favorite.

3. Do you have a favorite brand?
I will always and forever squawk about China Glaze. I think that company is just the bees knees; the color selection is lovely and it's more affordable than other brands. (I'm looking at your 8 dollar bottles OPI...)

4. If you could only wear one polish for the rest of your life what you pick?
I usually go for blues of all kinds, but if I could only keep/use one forever I would go with China Glaze Short and Sassy. (Which is a berry!) I think the color is just fabulous, it's reminiscent of velvet and it looks like it glows. Plus the name sums up my entire being!!

5. Favorite type of polish?

Glitter will always be a top contender, but honestly I think cremes are my top pick.

Blogs...

1. When did you start your blog?
May 18, 2011.

2. Who or what inspired you to start blogging?
My best friend Katie was the one who originally got the idea into my head. She started showing me adorable nail art- Frankenstine's monster, flowers, mustaches- all kinds of interesting and intricate things. I tried a few and realized how fun it was, how much I enjoyed making these tiny works of art and having others notice my nails while I was out and about.

3. What is your favorite part of blogging?
All of it! Though I do adore hearing from the people who read the most, getting tips, tricks or just talking to them about pretty colors just makes my day.

4. Who is your favorite polish blogger?
I really enjoy reading Scrangie (http://www.scrangie.com/), her wit and musical taste are a lot like my own. Also, Marisa (http://marijonails.blogspot.com/), and Minnie (http://funkyfrenchienails.blogspot.com/) both have blogs that I read everyday as well.

5. Do you follow other types of blogs? If so, who is your favorite?
I follow Dlisted religiously. I do not even care about celebrities but I swear if Michael K. wanted to write about toasters I would read it.

Music...

1. Music is a huge passion of mine! Who is your favorite band or artist?
Oh hands down (Or, nails down I suppose would be apropos) David Bowie.

2. Have you seen them in concert?
Unfortunately I don't think he is touring any longer.

3. What is your favorite song?
iTunes says that I have listened to The Cures The Perfect Girl 187 times... hahaha!

4. Do you have a favorite album?
I think that Fall Out Boy From Under the Cork Tree is just pop punky perfection and I swear that Sugar We're Going Down Swinging will still be playing on light rock stations 10 years from now.

5. Favorite music genre?
I could never pin down an actual genre; I've worked in radio my entire life, I think that really broadened my horizons, and taught me to give the music a chance instead of just blindly listening to one genre.

Random...

1. Left or right handed?
Right handed, though since I've started using my non-dom hand to paint my other I've been getting stronger!

2. Favorite word or phrase?
I say poop face entirely too much to be considered a grown up. That's about as salty as my language gets.

3. Do you dance when no one is looking?
I think that's the only time I dance. I didn't even dance at my own wedding!

4. What is your favorite movie?
It's a tie between the 10th Kingdom and Labyrinth!

5. Are you glad this is the last question (LOL)?!
Nope, I have to do dishes now. Boo!

Glitter Gal: Bondi Blue

I decided to get in the Valentine's Day spirit....well just a little.  I could not wait to get "Bondi Blue" on my nails.  Let me just say, it is GORGEOUS!  Awesome coverage in 2 coats and I am loving the full sized Glitter Gal bottles.  If you have not tried Glitter Gal check out their site here.  Their polishes are 3 free and STILL pack an amazing holo punch.  "Bondi Blue" is even more amazing in real life.

I purchased this from the lovely Leah Ann @ Llarowe.

**Update** OverallBeauty.com is now carrying the bigger Glitter Gal bottles too.  2 great online shopping options!

I decided to do a little bit of nail art (I know, unheard of from me) with China Glaze's "Hyper Haute".  I have included pictures of both hands.  What do you think?  Not bad for my first time (other than dots) LOL!

OPI: I Have A Herring Problem (and tiny nail mail)

"I Have A Herring Problem" is from OPI's new Holland collection.  It is puurdy LOL!  It is a nice dusty blue with little gold shimmers.  It applied perfect in 2 coats, the first coat seemed to have decent drying time.  I'm not sure about the second coat, I applied Poshe over the second coat while it was wet.

I'm sure it is not a unique color, but it was to my collection.  Did you pick up any of the Holland collection yet?  If not, are you planning on it?

I have included at the end the polish I received in the mail today.  Expect to see that soon...can you guess what type of polish it is? LOL
